Bronx Bombers: How you feeling on the Montero/Pineda trade and Kuroda signing? From a Dodgers fan, know this: You're going to love Kuroda. He'll rarely wow you with his stuff, but he just as rarely has a bad game. Your rotation got a LOT better tonight.

And the Mets signed a couple of relievers this winter...
I just can't get the Mets and the Knicks to be relevant at the same time, can I?

Our need was pitching, and thats exactly what we got. Yankees are now a much much better balanced team with a now great rotation. I love the Kuroda signing as well, especially since its only a 1 year deal. He doesn't seem like he's 37 years old at all. He seems a lot younger. Starting pitching is far more important than hitting (I'm sure we could debate pitching vs. hitting for days). If Pineda can develop that 2nd or 3rd dominating off speed pitch with his electric fastball, I don't even wanna think of what he can become. And only 22! I LOVE the trade.

If Yankees can sign a power bat to take Montero's spot at DH, preferably Carlos Pena, then I can definetly see us winning 100+.

Also, what would you have thought if they'd have pulled off Montero/Banuelos/Betances for King Felix?

Hmmm... I would've liked it of course, but I can see Pineda becoming as good as Hernandez is right now. I prefer the Pineda trade actually since Banuelos and Betances can become important pieces for the Yankees, whether its pitching for them or in a trade.

Wow, Pineda as good as Felix? Love the optimism, but I'd be at least somewhat concerned about his post-All-Star break stats. That super-hot start he had last season seems to be all that sticks in a lot of people's minds.
ETA: while his BB and K rates were pretty consistent pre- and post-All-Star, his BABIP and strand % were both considerably better than normal earlier in the season, and regressed to the mean in the 2nd half. Also, his HR/FB% of zero in April is, shall we say, unsustainable? Although the 19% he had in August is juuuust a bit of an outlier, too. Pitching at Yankee Stadium is not going to have a positive effect on that, though. Expectations should be tempered. The kid is good, but he's not "perennial Cy Young candidate" good.

Of course right now, Hernandez is a lot better. But I just think over the next 3-4 years, Pineda could become as good. And yeah, I always tend to be overly optimistic on things, but I like that. And of course, pitching in Yankee Stadium will severly hurt his "fantasy" stats. He could win 15 or 16 though this year.

Angels- LOVE the Rubby DLR pick. I think he's a future near-ace level talent as long as he comes back from the TJ intact.

Pretty sure Gaby Sanchez has been taken. I wouldve taken him rounds ago if I didnt think he had already been taken.
