I suggest everyone set up their own Excel file to keep track of your salaries over multiple seasons. I'm sure many of you are already doing this but if you aren't, it is extremely beneficial. If you aren't familiar with spread sheet programs, I can give you some help to set it up.
You can code the cells to figure out how much you have invested where, who you have bids on and how it affects you in the future. It will save you a lot of time.

I highly recommend google docs since it's free, web/cloud-based and autosaves every change. If you don't have MS office or something else google docs are almost as good

Google Docs works but it seems to run slow with anything beyond simple modifications. There is no need to buy spreadsheet software but they work a lot better than Google Docs if you already have them.

Google docs work better in the chrome browser than others but the real commercial/professional software packages are superior in speed and functionality by far.

Having a government job and being in university gives you access to most of this stuff for free.
