When Promoting/Demoting a Player you must post the transaction in the transaction thread.
Any player may be sent down to your minor league roster, regardless of whether he is in the MLB or the minor leagues at the time. If you send down the same player 3 or more times, he must clear the Waivers process each time you wish to send him down to the minor leagues.
Once the first big league game is played, your 3-Time Demotion limit kicks in.
You can promote/demote during the off season with no consequences.
Your demotions are only tracked during the season.
AN EXAMPLE OF PLACING A PLAYER ON THE DISABLE LIST As soon as a player is placed on the DL in real life, Yahoo will put DL beside a players name.
You then move this player to the DL slot on your roster. You must also post that you have done this transaction on the forum in the transactions thread.
You may then call up a player that you will also post on the transactions board.
As soon as your player comes off the DL, you will need to demote a player back down to your minors and post this in the transactions board.

Call up? So we can't just pick a player up off of the waiver wire?

Nope picking up a player off of the waiver wire would essentially be bidding on him in free agency, where you need to wait 24 hours for your bid to clear until you add him to your roster
What the call up refers to is your MiLB team, you would be essentially calling a player up from your minor system to fill the DL players void.
And when the injured player is finished his stint on the DL, you can not directly assign him to your MLB roster without recording the demotion of a player to your MiLB roster
If you have questions continue to post them on this thread.

for example, if I have sent down Jarrod Parker, who I got in the big league draft, does his contract keep running even if hes down there?

Yes Jarrod Parker's contract will continue to count against your cap, if a player is drafted in the MLB draft he will be a cap hit for the remainder of his contract even if he is demoted to your MiLB roster

So I just wanted to make sure I'm clear on this:
I have Brad Peacock on my Major League roster from the draft. He has a contract of $2.5 for 4 years. As of right now, I will have 20 players on my Major League roster after the draft.
I want to send him down to the minors because in RL he's in AAA and not in the Majors. I can do this, but his contract will continue to count against my cap.
Doing this will bring my Major League roster down to 19 players, and I could conceivably sign another 7 players to my Major League roster through free agency.
I will have used up one of his demotions to send him down. If I demote him two more times at any point, he will have to clear waivers on the third time.
Is that all correct?

One other question then: Does the player I send down have to be in the minors in RL, or could I conceivably send anyone down? For example, could I send Bobby Abreu down, or is he not allowed if he isn't in the minors in RL?

You can send any one you want down, but his contract will count against your cap. No matter if he is in the minors in RL or not.
