Attention all owners:
It is required that you do not bid more for free agents than you have available under your salary cap. This is expected on both an individual bid level, as well as the combined total of all your active bids.
As a result of bidding over the cap by multiple owners, the following actions are being taken:
- Specific players are having their bids reset to the last bid before an invalid bid where able to be determined. For example, Owner A bid $2 previously. Owner B bids $2.5, but does not have enough cap space for that. As a result, Owner A moves their bid up to $3. In this example, the bid would be returned to $2, because Owner A only raised their bid due to the invalid bid of Owner B.
- If a different owner has raised the bid in the middle of this process, those players will not be touched. For example, Owner A bid $2 previously. Owner B bids $2.5, but does not have enough cap space for that. Owner C then bids $3. In this case, the $3 bid would stand, because Owner C has also bid on the player.
All players who are affected by this will have their new bid posted by me, along with the value I have determined based on the previous bids and timing of posts. This is a best-case estimate, as the amount of effort required to re-create all the bidding is very time-consuming. In addition, the time of that bid will now be the time slot of when I post the corrected bid, so each of them will have to hold for 24 hours still.
In addition, as of right now, all players are now under their salary cap including all of the bids they are leading. As a result, there will be no further penalties.
Remember, each owner is responsible for keeping track of how much cap space they have. I make a good-faith effort to update the salary cap information as soon as something closes, but I do have other things to do.
The following players will be having their bids reset according to the guidelines above:
Albert Pujols - High bid of 8.5, by LAD
Prince Fielder - High bid of 10.5, by BAL
Robinson Cano - High bid of 12, by LAD
Jose Bautistia - High bid of 9, by MIA
Adrian Gonzalez - High bid of 8, by BAL
Avisail Garcia - High bid of 1, by LAD
Shane Victorino - High bid of 2, by ANA
