In light of the fact that we have had a number of owners which have changed after the minor league draft was completed, I am authorizing the following actions and procedures in the interest of fairness to these new owners:
1. Teams where the new ownership was not able to make their own selections in the most recent minor league draft will be given the option to swap out no more than two (2) of the minor league draft selections that were made by the previous owner of the team.
2. This precedent was given to Toronto following the initial minor league draft for a similar reason. While it is clearly stated in the related thread that the precedent there would be a one-time item as the league had not started play, I feel that with this many teams affected by this (25% of the league), it is a fair action to be offered to teams while still balancing fairness to the teams which were here for the minor league draft. Since they are still drafting after everyone else for this, I do not feel it to be a significant enough of an advantage as to border on unfair to the existing owners who were able to draft their own players.
3. This affects the following teams:
Fake Teams (5 of 5 selections made by previous owner)
Anaheim Angels (4 of 5 selections made by previous owner)
Chicago Cubs (5 of 5 selections made by previous owner)
Orange October (4 of 5 selections made by previous owner)
4. These four teams may choose to switch out up to two of the minor league selections that were made for them by the previous owner from the draft recently completed only. As a result, the following players are eligible to be swapped out by their owners as a part of this:
Fake Teams: Carlos Correa, Trevor Story, Corey Seager, Rio Ruiz, Cody Asche
Anaheim Angels: Addison Russell, Kyle Gibson, Marcus Stroman, Jose Berrios
Chicago Cubs: Jorge Soler, Jesse Biddle, Domingo Santana, Jorge Alfaro, Joc Pederson
Orange October: Kyle Zimmer, Chris Stratton, Deven Marrero, Sean Gilmartin
5. Any player dropped will not be eligible to be drafted by another team as a part of this "swap draft", as all teams would have had the opportunity to draft those players had they not been taken in the first place. For example, if Fake Teams were to swap out Cody Asche, he would not be eligible to be taken by any of the other three teams in this draft.
6. As a result, the order of picks to be made is as follows:
Anaheim Angels' 5th round pick (still not taken from draft originally) - Manuel Margot, OF, BOS
Swap Round #1 (if team desires to do so)
1. Fake Teams - Kyle Parker, OF, COL (swapped out Rio Ruiz, 3B, HOU)
2. Orange October - Roman Quinn, SS, PHI (swapped out Sean Gilmartin, SP, ATL)
3. Chicago Cubs - PASS
4. Anaheim Angels - PASS
Swap Round #2 (if team desires to do so)
1. Fake Teams - Rafael Montero, SP, NYM (swapped out Cody Asche, 3B, PHI)
2. Orange October
3. Chicago Cubs - PASS
4. Anaheim Angels - PASS
Guidelines:
- Each team will have the standard 24 hour window to make their selection. If they have not made known their pick or their intention not to pick after 24 hours from the previous post, the next team make make their pick.
- For each of the swap round picks (all but Anaheim's first pick listed at the top), you must drop a player from your minor league team to make a new selection, and that player must be one of the ones listed above under item #4.
- All other guidelines for the minor league draft are the same regarding eligible players, etc.
THE DRAFT CLOCK STARTS AT 8 AM PST, March 23rd (Approximately 2 hours from now). Please post your selections as replies to this thread.
