This was an interesting thread to walk into late. I work in an evangelical church (though I don't classify myself as "evangelical"), and I have spent much of my career advocating for better treatment of gays and women both inside and outside of the church. I understand the reputation that evangelicals have; trust me, I have to put up with plenty of unsavory people in my line of work. Having said that, I reject the generalization that all evangelicals are assholes.
On Pujols, it drives me crazy when Pujols attributes his most recent hitting streak to his relationship with God, though I do appreciate what he has done for his foundation that deals with Downs Syndrome kids.
To the original question, I don't blame him at all for taking the money. I wish he hadn't gone to the Angels. Silver lining for a Rangers fan: No opt-out and a full no-trade. They're going to regret this contract in 2019.

Yeah, sorry, I have a terrible inability to shut my mouth.
When Pujols is 44 (in real years) at the end of this contract, the Rangers will still be paying A-Rod, however.
Evan Longoria and Matt Moore 4Ever!!!

The Rangers don't pay A-Rod any more. He opted out of that contract and signed a new one with the Yankees. Unless you were making a joke and I missed it...

Good thing this Pujols thread turned into politics and religion...
