Pretty straight forward. Salary system would be determined later if managers would like salaries.

Not sure how a salary system works. Anyone want to give me a brief explanation?

Basically you would be given a cap amount that your team can not exceed. You would be signing players to contracts based on performance and budget.

Few ways people normally do it. Based on what round they were selected or their rank pre-season seems to be popular.

Why don't we just use their real salary?

Real salaries include defense, which would skew the values of people with great/poor defense.

Then don't draft the player if you don't want their contract

Their contracts are not indications of their worth however.

I mean like, if someone doesnt want a players contract, then draft someone else. ya know what I mean?

Yes, I get that. But contracts are meant to indicate player value, and their player value is totally different than our player value. Brett Gardner could land a contract worth 15 million a season. Is his fantasy value anywhere near there? He would become undraftable.

So are we going to be on the hook for their actual contracts if we draft them? That could lead to some unusual drafting. Pretty much guarantees Evan Longoria will be one of the top 5 picks also (Not that that is necessarily a bad thing).

I'm pretty opposed to that system. I can't see that working out well in the long run.

Yeah, I don't really mind either way, but I think it might be easier to not use real salaries. I think that we have enough time before the season starts that we could work out a salary system that would work.
